With operations in the San Francisco Bay Area and Chicago, the company serves as a vital partner for the most innovative companies in the Americas.</p></div><p><strong>Impact in this role</strong></p> <p>The Applied Content Engineer is responsible for designing and building real-world engineering systems, demo platforms, and training kits that showcase the practical application of MISUMI components. This role bridges product engineering, customer experience, and education by creating tangible, working systems that demonstrate speed, modularity, and scalability.</p> <p>You will translate abstract product capabilities into physical and digital systems that inspire customers and enable learning—similar to how modern manufacturing companies showcase workflows through application-driven storytelling.</p> <p><strong>What you'll be doing</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design and develop demonstration systems that highlight real-world use cases (automation cells, jigs/fixtures, motion systems, etc.)</li> <li>Create detailed CAD models, assemblies, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using MISUMI sourced components</li> <li>Build and test physical training kits and modular systems for university and customer use</li> <li>Document system designs with clear technical narratives, instructions, and supporting materials</li> <li>Collaborate with instructional designers to ensure systems can be translated into learning experiences</li> <li>Partner with marketing to develop application-driven content (videos, case studies, technical walkthroughs)</li> <li>Identify product gaps or usability challenges and provide feedback to product management</li> <li>Continuously iterate on demo systems based on user feedback and evolving market needs</li> <li>All employees are expected to maintain and contribute to the QMS.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Qualifications and Desired Traits</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline</li> <li>3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, systems engineering, or product development</li> <li>Strong CAD and assembly design skills (parametric modeling experience preferred)</li> <li>Experience designing manufacturable systems, fixtures, or automation equipment</li> <li>Hands-on fabrication and prototyping experience (machining, 3D printing, assembly)</li> <li>Strong systems-thinking mindset and attention to detail</li> <li>Ability to communicate technical designs clearly to both engineers and non-engineers</li> </ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk and hear; use hands to keyboard, fingers, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, crawl, reach, and stretch.</li> </ul> <p>Travel:&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Ability to travel 20% annually in the US and Canada for university visits, team meetings, career fairs, trade shows, etc.</li> </ul> <p>Compensation for this position is from $90,000 - $110,000 USD annually based on experience</p><div class="content-conclusion"><p>We’re actively seeking teammates who:</p> <ul> <li>Bring diverse perspectives and experience to our culture and company.&nbsp;</li> <li>Excel at being part of a strong, empathetic team.</li> <li>Thrive in an environment emphasizing respect, honesty, collaboration, and growth.</li> <li>Have an ‘always learning’ mindset that celebrates learning, not just wins.&nbsp;</li> <li>Help us continue to build a world-class organization that values the contributions of all of our teammates</li> </ul> <p>We encourage applications from members of underrepresented groups, including but not limited to women, members of the LGBTQ community, people of color, people with disabilities, and veterans.</p></div>
