(Senior) iOS Mobile Engineer
Job description
Our client is an early-stage fintech company building a new mobile-first investment platform for global markets.
The company is developing a product that makes investing across international markets feel as simple as investing domestically - bringing together brokerage, FX, funding, portfolio management and market information into a single, intuitive experience.
The business is backed by an experienced founding team and is now expanding its engineering team as the product moves from early development towards production.
This is an opportunity to join at an unusually early stage and have a direct influence on the architecture, product and engineering standards of the mobile platform.
Take ownership of the native iOS application using Swift and SwiftUI
Help define and evolve the application's architecture and technical direction
Build and refine core investment, account, funding and portfolio experiences
Design mobile experiences that clearly communicate transaction and account states to users
Build secure authentication, session management and local data handling
Work closely with backend engineers on APIs, data models and edge cases
Ensure financial information is displayed accurately, including currencies, prices, percentages, timestamps and data freshness
Handle real-world mobile considerations such as unreliable networks, background execution, push notifications and application lifecycle
Take responsibility for application performance, stability and crash rates
Manage App Store releases, including review requirements, privacy considerations, entitlements and release quality
Identify and address mobile security risks and vulnerabilities
Contribute to product decisions and technical trade-offs in a fast-moving startup environment
6+ years of professional iOS development, or equivalent depth of experience
Strong commercial experience building and maintaining native iOS applications
Excellent knowledge of Swift
Strong experience with SwiftUI, with a good understanding of when UIKit remains appropriate
Solid understanding of iOS architecture, application lifecycle and platform capabilities
Experience with areas such as secure storage, biometrics, authentication, push notifications, background execution, code signing and App Store distribution
Experience working on applications where security, reliability and data accuracy are important
Strong debugging and performance-profiling skills
Experience taking ownership of an application rather than simply implementing individual features
Comfortable working in an environment where requirements aren't always fully defined
Good English communication skills and the ability to work directly with senior technical stakeholders
Experience in any of the following:
Fintech, banking, brokerage, payments or investment applications
Trading or order-management systems
KYC / onboarding flows
Portfolio or financial-account applications
Financial data and market-data products
Mobile application security
High-volume consumer applications
