Senior Developer

We are seeking a Senior Developer to support a modernization initiative for a public sector student financial services program. This role focuses on designing, developing, and deploying secure, scalable applications that enhance client experience and streamline service delivery. The successful candidate will work as a senior developer alongside team members to help design, develop, and deploy required changes, upgrades, and modifications to the student financial services application. This position will mentor and guide developers in delivering an ASP.NET Core MVC application that is secure, performant, robust, and adaptable.

This position requires someone who can analyze, design, develop, and implement secure applications to support the modernization of student financial services. The role encompasses participation in user experience and interface design activities, analysis of bugs and change requests, implementation of solutions across the technology stack, creation of automated unit tests, and delivery of comprehensive documentation. The Senior Programmer Analyst will ensure that secure application design and coding requirements are met, support ongoing performance improvements, and participate actively in team scrums and meetings to report on progress and issues.

Qualifications

• Effective communication in English, verbal and written.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years - programming and design experience in .NET and MVC.
• 4+ years - experience writing scripts and stored procedures using MS SQL Server.
• 1+ year - programming and design experience with Identity Management solutions.
• 4 years gained in the last 7 years - designing and developing secure applications that address requirements for both data confidentiality and client privacy.
• 4 years gained in the last 7 years - working in an Agile development environment.
• 4 years gained in the last 7 years - translating technical requirements based on user stories and solution architecture.
• 5 years gained in the last 7 years - code review and following coding guidelines and best practices.
• 5 years gained in the last 7 years - JavaScript, jQuery, HTML/CSS, and user interface design.
• 5 years gained in the last 7 years - UI responsive design, including the use of front-end frameworks.
• 1 year gained in the last 5 years - working with user interface design systems.
• 5 years gained in the last 7 years - developing REST based APIs.
• 2 years gained in the last 5 years - working with Azure DevOps including pipelines and dev environments.
• 2 years gained in the last 5 years - working within the Canadian public sector as a Programmer Analyst.
• 2 years gained in the last 5 years - developing multilingual software systems.

Nice to Have

• Additional experience with Identity Management solutions beyond the mandatory requirement.
• Experience with advanced performance optimization techniques in large-scale applications.
• Familiarity with additional front-end frameworks and libraries beyond core requirements.
