Working Student / IDP: Software Development (m/f/d)

Blickfeld GmbH

Munich

Job description

Shape the future of real-world LiDAR applications at a leading high-tech company in Munich.

At Blickfeld, we develop our own innovative LiDAR technology based on a frictionless MEMS mirror. Our sensors create 3D data of the environment in high resolution. These 3D point clouds contain detailed information about the exact size, position and speed of objects which allows us to analyze the shape and movement of people, vehicles and other objects. Blickfeld LiDAR sensors excel in a wide variety of applications, e.g. security, volume measurement and traffic management, and smart cities.

As part of our innovative software team, you will contribute to the integration of our LiDAR sensors into modern security environments. After an onboarding phase, you will work on interoperability testing, system integrations, and the development of device software components with a high degree of autonomy.

Tasks

System Integration: You test the interoperability of our LiDAR devices with various Video Management Systems (VMS) and Video Surveillance (CCTV) platforms to ensure seamless integration into existing security environments.

Testing Environment Maintenance: You maintain and extend the testing environment used for validating device integrations, including installation and configuration of VMS platforms, and troubleshooting of the test infrastructure.

Software Development: You contribute to the development and maintenance of our device integration stack by implementing, integrating, and debugging software components running on the device.

Validation & Documentation: You document integration results, compliance findings, and system behavior to support interoperability improvements and product development.

Requirements

Education: You are currently studying for a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a comparable technical field.

Programming Skills: You have solid experience with Python and TypeScript. You are familiar with object-oriented design principles and comfortable working in complex development environments.

Automated Testing: You have experience with testing frameworks such as PyTest and understand modern testing practices. You are capable of manually counting points within the 3D point cloud space.

Technical Stack (Plus): Experience with one or more of the following technologies is a plus: GitLab, Docker, CI/CD tools, CMake, Asyncio, Protobuf, gRPC, RTSP, gStreamer, open6d, SOAP, Web Services, ONVIF.

Mindset: You enjoy solving technical problems and contributing to the development of reliable and robust software solutions.

Communication & Languages: You have fluent English skills and are comfortable collaborating in an international team.

Benefits

Purpose & Technology: You work on cutting-edge LiDAR technology that enables safer, smarter, and more efficient environments—from critical infrastructure to smart cities—while contributing directly to real-world impact.

Ownership & Growth: You operate in a dynamic high-tech environment with flat hierarchies, where individual initiative is valued, responsibilities are clear, and your ideas can quickly make a difference.

Agile Ways of Working: You operate in an agile setup with monthly sprints and releases, allowing you to regularly implement new ideas and see tangible results.

Work Model: We value face-to-face interaction within the team, so you will mainly work on-site at the office. In some cases, and by arrangement, you can occasionally work from home.

Team & Culture: You become part of a passionate, technology-driven team where like-minded people inspire each other and share a strong enthusiasm for innovation.

Team Spirit: We value a positive working environment and promote team spirit through regular team events and joint activities.

Health & Fitness: You receive a subsidized Urban Sports Club membership, giving you access to a wide range of sports and fitness activities such as yoga, swimming, climbing, and team sports across Munich.

Excellent coffee: For the perfect start to the day and in between, we have extremely good coffee to support and invigorate you.

We, Ivan Smolin (Hiring Manager) und Yves Gendronneau (HR) are looking forward to your application, including your CV, certificates and a motivation letter.
